1. Their Basketball Wizardry

The Harlem Globetrotters have some undeniable talent when it comes to the world of Basketball wizardry. In fact, they once beat the Minneapolis Lakers (who are now the Los Angeles Lakers)! From high-flying dunks to must-see trick shots, the Harlem Globetrotters have skills like no others. These larger than life stars are not to be missed.

2. Their world records

The Harlem Globetrotters currently hold a whopping 21 Guinness World Records. Last November they set five more, including a summersault basketball shot (yep, you read that right — a summersault basketball shot). Globetrotter star Zeus McClurkin set the record for most blindfolded basketball slam dunks in one minute that very same day! To put it simply: the Harlem Globetrotters are ridiculously talented and consistently push the boundaries of basketball.

3. Their mascot

When you go to see the Harlem Globetrotters you can expect to be blown-away by their basketball brilliance, but they’re pretty hilarious too! And for a team with such big personalities, they’ve got mascots to match. Fan-favourite is the adorable Globie, a walking, talking, basketball-loving globe! Having first joined the Harlem Globetrotters in 1993, he’s become the most traveled mascot in professional sports, having entertained fans across six continents. Globie is very much a star in his own right, as he certainly knows what fans love!

4. Their hearts

There’s no doubt that the Harlem Globetrotters are fantastic on the court, but they’re pretty spectacular off it too. The team has founded several programs aiming to enrich and support communities around the world. From their hospital community outreach program, SMILE PATROL, to their new program, The ABCs of Bullying Prevention, the Globetrotters take their title of “Ambassadors of Goodwill” very seriously. Pair their compassion with their talent and it’s no wonder why they’re so loved!

5. Their fans!

The Harlem Globetrotters have gained themselves a legion of devoted fans. Some well-known fans include Barrack Obama and Samuel L. Jackson (and you can’t argue with those two). From five year olds to fifty year olds, it seems that these players have a knack for dazzling any kind of audience. In fact, the audience is what makes the Globetrotters so entertaining! Whether it’s getting an audience member to shoot some hoops or an impromptu dance off, you never know what to expect. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find yourself on court with the Globetrotters yourself!
